South Indian Granite

Amba White Granite.

Quarried in Karnataka's granite belt, Amba White is a warm-white granite with a gentle, natural movement of grey and brown mineral clusters that add subtle character to the otherwise light, clean background.

Amba White Granite slab

About White

Amba White Granite is extracted from quarries in the Dharwar Craton region of Karnataka, where Precambrian granitic intrusives produce blocks of reliable colour consistency and workable size. The stone sits within the same broad geological family as other Karnataka whites but carries a slightly warmer undertone from higher feldspar iron content. It is supplied as gangsaw slabs and tiles for export, with FOB loading at Mundra or Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.62 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.25%
Compressive Strength ~165 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Amba White is a medium-grained granite dominated by potassium feldspar, quartz, and plagioclase with accessory biotite mica, hornblende, and trace iron-bearing minerals. The slightly elevated iron content in the feldspar phase gives the stone a warm undertone compared to cooler white granites. Biotite and hornblende appear as dark mineral clusters distributed through the white matrix, creating the characteristic soft movement of the stone. Porosity is moderate and sealing is recommended for wet or food-preparation environments.

Color & Character

Amba White Granite shows a warm white to off-white background scattered with clusters of dark grey-brown biotite and hornblende minerals that range from fine specks to small, irregular patches. The overall impression is soft and organic rather than graphic — the dark clusters are evenly distributed without prominent veining or directional flow. On a polished surface, the feldspar matrix takes on a warm luminosity that distinguishes Amba White from cooler, starker white granites.

Best Applications

Kitchen Countertops

Amba White's warm background and subtle mineral movement make it a popular worktop choice in kitchens where a stone with more natural character than plain white is preferred.

Bathroom Vanities

The stone's light tone and moderate hardness are well suited to bathroom vanity tops, shower walls, and basin surrounds requiring a natural stone finish.

Wall Cladding

Feature walls and reception backdrops in hospitality and residential settings benefit from the stone's warm white character and polished reflectivity.

Flooring

Honed Amba White tiles provide a slip-resistant, naturally textured floor surface for residential halls, kitchens, and living spaces.

Staircase Treads

The stone's hardness and stain resistance make it practical for staircase applications, where its warm white tone adds an elegant, light-reflective quality.

Commercial Interiors

Retail environments, hotel lobbies, and office receptions use Amba White's neutral warmth to create inviting, professionally finished spaces.

Care & Maintenance

Seal Amba White Granite with a penetrating impregnator at installation and refresh every 12 to 18 months in kitchen and bathroom applications. The slightly warm undertone of the stone can accentuate oil stains if left unsealed; prompt cleaning of spills is recommended. Use pH-neutral stone cleaner for routine maintenance and avoid acidic liquids. Polished surfaces are easier to maintain than honed finishes in food-preparation environments.
