Colombo Juparana is a warm, animated granite from Karnataka's Juparana family — a complex, flowing pattern of pink, cream, grey, and dark mineral inclusions that creates one of the most visually distinctive natural stone appearances available.

About Juparana

Colombo Juparana Granite is quarried in Karnataka, within the same geological zone that produces the broader Juparana family of richly patterned granites. The characteristic pink and grey flow pattern results from Precambrian granitic magma differentiating into multiple feldspar and mineral phases during slow crystallisation. The stone has been a significant export product for over two decades and is well established in global kitchen countertop and interior markets. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.64 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.25%
Compressive Strength ~172 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Colombo Juparana is a coarse-grained granite composed of pink and white potassium feldspar, quartz, plagioclase, biotite, and hornblende. The flowing pattern results from compositional layering developed during magmatic differentiation — alternating zones of feldspar-rich and dark-mineral-rich material that appear as flowing, wave-like bands through the slab. Iron content in the feldspar produces the characteristic pink to salmon tones. The stone has moderate porosity and should be sealed for wet-contact applications.

Color & Character

Colombo Juparana Granite presents a flowing composition of warm pink to salmon feldspar zones, cream to light grey quartz-plagioclase areas, and dark grey-black hornblende-biotite clusters distributed in an organic, non-directional pattern. The movement across the slab face gives the stone an almost painterly quality — each slab carrying a different arrangement of its characteristic colour zones. Polished surfaces intensify the warmth of the pink feldspar and reveal subtle crystalline depth in the quartz zones. No two slabs are identical.

Care & Maintenance

Colombo Juparana Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 12 months in kitchen and bathroom settings. The warm pink tones can be susceptible to oil staining if left unsealed; prompt spill removal is recommended. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and avoid acidic or bleach-based products. Polished surfaces are more stain resistant than honed finishes.
