About Gold

Colonial Gold Granite is quarried in Karnataka's central granite belt, where Precambrian granitoid intrusives with elevated iron-bearing feldspar content produce the warm gold to amber colouring. The stone has been in export production for over a decade and is processed to gangsaw slabs, cutter slabs, and calibrated tiles. It is well established in kitchen countertop markets in Europe and North America. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.65 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.25%
Compressive Strength ~172 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Colonial Gold is a medium-to-coarse grained granite dominated by warm gold-amber potassium feldspar, quartz, and plagioclase, with biotite and hornblende as the principal dark-mineral phases. The gold-amber colour of the feldspar results from iron-bearing trace minerals within the feldspar structure. Dark mineral clusters — hornblende and biotite aggregates — are distributed through the matrix and provide the stone's characteristic three-tone pattern of gold, cream, and dark grey-black. The stone has moderate porosity and benefits from sealing in kitchen and bathroom applications.

Color & Character

Colonial Gold Granite presents a rich gold to amber matrix with clusters of cream-white plagioclase and dark grey-black hornblende distributed across the surface. The three-tone composition creates a warm, active pattern with depth and movement. On polished surfaces, the gold feldspar takes on an intense warmth under natural and artificial light — the stone's colour appears richer and deeper when wet or freshly polished. The overall character is warm, opulent, and well suited to traditional and contemporary luxury interior schemes.

Care & Maintenance

Colonial Gold Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 12 to 18 months in kitchen and bathroom use. The warm gold tones can be susceptible to oil and wine staining if unsealed. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner; remove spills promptly. Avoid acidic cleaners. Polished surfaces are more stain resistant and easier to maintain than honed finishes.
