Colonial White Granite.

Colonial White Granite from Karnataka is one of the most versatile white granites in the South Indian range — a cream-white background with an active pattern of grey and brown mineral clusters that provides natural character without overwhelming a space.

Colonial White Granite slab

About White

Colonial White Granite is quarried in Karnataka's Dharwar Craton, where Precambrian leucocratic granites produce the warm white-to-cream matrix with moderate dark mineral content characteristic of the Colonial family. The stone has been in continuous export production for over two decades and is well established in kitchen countertop and residential interior markets globally. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.62 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.30%
Compressive Strength ~165 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Colonial White is a medium-grained leucocratic granite dominated by white to cream potassium feldspar, quartz, and plagioclase, with accessory biotite mica and hornblende. The dark mineral clusters are primarily biotite aggregates distributed as small to medium patches through the white-cream matrix. The feldspar-quartz-dominated mineralogy provides the stone's light, neutral background. Moderate porosity requires sealing for food-contact and wet environments.

Color & Character

Colonial White Granite has a warm white to cream ground scattered with dark grey-brown mineral clusters of biotite and hornblende. The clusters are distributed unevenly across the slab face, giving the stone an organic, natural movement without directional veining. The overall tone is soft and welcoming — lighter and less warm than Colonial Gold, less stark than pure white granites. On polished surfaces, the cream feldspar develops a subtle luminosity and the quartz adds a fine crystalline glitter.

Care & Maintenance

Colonial White Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 12 months in kitchen and bathroom applications. The white-cream matrix can show oil or food staining if left unsealed; prompt spill cleanup is recommended. Use pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid bleach, acidic cleaners, and abrasive products. The polished finish is easy to maintain and retains its warmth under normal conditions.
