South Indian Granite

Fusion Black Granite II.

Fusion Black Granite II is a very dark grey to near-black stone with subtle multi-mineral streaking — a refined, textured black granite that offers more visual complexity than absolute blacks while maintaining the impact of a predominantly dark stone.

Fusion Black Granite II slab

About Black

Fusion Black Granite II is quarried from South India's established dark granite zone, where specific mafic Precambrian intrusives produce the characteristic deep black matrix with multi-mineral fusion patterning. The stone complements the original Fusion Black variety with a slightly different mineral balance and tone. It is processed to gangsaw slabs and tiles at established South India units. Geological Profile

Density ~2.95 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.10%
Compressive Strength ~208 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Fusion Black II is a fine-to-medium grained mafic granitoid composed of hornblende, plagioclase, biotite, and quartz, with accessory magnetite and ilmenite. The multi-mineral streaking visible across the surface results from subtle compositional banding developed during crystallisation — alternating zones of slightly different mineral ratios produce faint light and dark streaks in the predominantly dark matrix. Near-zero porosity gives the stone excellent resistance to staining and frost.

Color & Character

Fusion Black Granite II presents a very dark grey to near-black matrix with faint multi-mineral streaking that gives the surface a subtle, animated texture compared to uniform absolute blacks. The streaks are fine and close in tone to the surrounding matrix — perceptible rather than graphic — creating a stone that reads as black from a distance but reveals tonal complexity at close range. The finish quality is high on polished surfaces, which develop a deep reflectivity across the dark field.

Best Applications

Kitchen Countertops

Fusion Black II's near-zero porosity and subtle texture make it a sophisticated kitchen worktop material — darker and less patterned than Baltic Brown, with more complexity than absolute black alternatives.

Feature Walls

Dark feature walls in contemporary residential and commercial interiors benefit from the stone's subtle tonal movement, which adds depth without the explicit patterning of multi-colour granites.

Flooring

Honed Fusion Black II provides a dark, durable, and slip-resistant floor surface for high-traffic commercial and luxury residential applications.

Exterior Facades

High compressive strength and near-zero porosity make the stone suitable for exterior cladding, plinth facings, and entrance steps in all climates.

Bathroom Surfaces

Polished vanity tops and shower walls in Fusion Black II create dark, refined bathroom environments with a hint of mineral texture.

Staircase Treads

The stone's hardness and dark colour make it a refined choice for staircase treads and risers in both residential and commercial settings.

Care & Maintenance

Fusion Black Granite II requires minimal maintenance due to its near-zero porosity. An impregnating sealer at installation is recommended for kitchen and bathroom use. The dark polished surface shows water marks easily — dry promptly after cleaning. Use pH-neutral stone cleaner and avoid abrasive products. The polished finish retains its depth and reflectivity under normal conditions.
