Hassan Green Granite is quarried near Hassan town in the Hassan district of Karnataka, within the Dharwar Craton, where specific chlorite-bearing Precambrian intrusives produce the characteristic deep green colouring. Hassan Green is classified as a green granite or chlorite-schist-bearing granitoid. The green colouring results from the presence of chlorite, epidote, and chloritised hornblende as major mineral phases within the granitic matrix, which also contains plagioclase feldspar, quartz, and accessory magnetite. The chlorite and epidote minerals are responsible for the deep, saturated green colour that distinguishes the stone from other Indian granites. The relatively low porosity and good compressive strength reflect the dense crystalline matrix of the host intrusive.

Care & Maintenance
Hassan Green Granite has low porosity and good inherent stain resistance. An impregnating sealer at installation is recommended for kitchen and bathroom applications, refreshed every 18 to 24 months. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acid-based or bleach-based products that may react with the chlorite and epidote mineral phases. The polished finish is durable and retains the stone's deep green colour under normal conditions.
