Impala Black Granite.
Impala Black Granite from Karnataka is a dense, fine-grained jet-black stone with a near-perfect uniform appearance — closely comparable to Absolute Black in its properties and aesthetic, valued for its consistent colour and exceptional surface polish.
About Black
Impala Black Granite is quarried in Karnataka's granite belt, within the Dharwar Craton, where fine-grained mafic intrusives produce the consistent, dense black matrix of the stone. The quarry has been a stable export production source for over a decade. It is processed to gangsaw slabs and calibrated tiles for export. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Geological Profile
Impala Black is a fine-grained dolerite to gabbro dominated by labradorite plagioclase feldspar and augite pyroxene with accessory hornblende, magnetite, and ilmenite. The very fine grain size and high mafic mineral content produce the dense, uniform black matrix. Near-zero porosity makes the stone inherently resistant to staining and moisture ingress in virtually all conditions. The high compressive strength and Mohs hardness make it suitable for the most demanding structural and decorative applications.
Color & Character
Impala Black Granite presents a perfectly uniform jet-black matrix with no visible grain variation, veining, or patterning. The surface is as close to optically uniform as a natural stone can achieve — a consequence of the very fine crystalline texture in which individual mineral grains are indistinguishable to the naked eye. On polished surfaces, the black field achieves near-mirror reflectivity. Viewed against true absolute black stones, Impala Black may show a very faint grey undertone in certain lighting conditions, but for all practical purposes it reads as a true black.

Care & Maintenance
Impala Black Granite requires minimal maintenance due to near-zero porosity. An impregnating sealer at installation is recommended for kitchen and bathroom use; re-seal every 18 to 24 months. The polished surface shows water marks — dry promptly after cleaning. Use pH-neutral stone cleaner and avoid abrasive products. The high-gloss polish is long-lasting under normal conditions.
