About Aurora

Indian Aurora Granite is quarried in Karnataka's Precambrian granite belt, where the specific combination of iron-bearing pink feldspar, quartz, and dark mineral phases produces the warm, multi-toned aurora patterning. The stone has been in export production for over a decade and is well established in luxury kitchen countertop and interior markets. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.64 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.25%
Compressive Strength ~172 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Indian Aurora is a coarse-grained granite with elevated pink-to-salmon potassium feldspar as the dominant phase, accompanied by quartz, white plagioclase, and biotite-hornblende dark minerals. The warm aurora colouring results from elevated iron-manganese content in the potassium feldspar, producing the characteristic salmon-pink to pale gold tonal range. Biotite and hornblende appear as dark irregular clusters that punctuate the warm background. The complex pattern reflects multiphase crystallisation within the granite intrusive. Moderate porosity requires sealing for food and wet environments.

Color & Character

Indian Aurora Granite presents a warm salmon-pink to golden background with zones of cream-white plagioclase and dark grey-black biotite-hornblende clusters distributed in an organic, flowing pattern. The warm aurora tones give the stone an unusual luminosity — particularly pronounced on polished surfaces, where the pink-gold feldspar develops a warm glow under natural light. The non-directional patterning creates a rich, animated surface that reads differently from every angle, and each slab carries a unique combination of the stone's characteristic colour zones.

Care & Maintenance

Indian Aurora Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 12 months in kitchen and bathroom use. The warm pink tones benefit from prompt spill attention. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products. Polished Aurora surfaces are more stain resistant than honed finishes and maintain their warm colour depth under normal conditions.
