About Grey

Jubilee Grey Granite is quarried in Karnataka's Dharwar Craton, where medium-mafic Precambrian intrusives produce the characteristic mid-grey stone with even mineral texture. The quarry supplies consistent block quality for gangsaw slab and calibrated tile production and has been an export production source for over a decade. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.65 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.25%
Compressive Strength ~175 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Jubilee Grey is a medium-grained granite with a balanced mineralogy of grey plagioclase feldspar, quartz, potassium feldspar, hornblende, and biotite. The mid-grey colour results from the approximately equal contribution of dark hornblende-biotite and lighter quartz-feldspar phases. The even distribution of light and dark minerals across the matrix produces the stone's characteristically uniform speckle. Moderate porosity is typical of this granite family and sealing is recommended for wet applications.

Color & Character

Jubilee Grey Granite presents a clean, even mid-grey background with a fine, regular speckle of darker and lighter mineral grains distributed uniformly across the surface. There is no dominant veining, clustering, or directional pattern — the stone reads as a consistent neutral grey from any distance and at any orientation. This uniformity and neutrality are its defining qualities, making it a reliable material for large-format applications where a consistent grey tone is the primary specification criterion. Polished surfaces develop a restrained, professional reflectivity.

Best Applications

Kitchen Countertops

Jubilee Grey's consistent mid-grey tone makes it a neutral, professional kitchen worktop material compatible with virtually any cabinet colour — particularly suited to contemporary all-grey or grey-and-white kitchen designs.

Bathroom Surfaces

Vanity tops and shower surrounds in Jubilee Grey create clean, contemporary bathroom environments with the practical advantages of granite over engineered alternatives.

Commercial Flooring

Honed Jubilee Grey tiles provide consistent, durable, and slip-resistant grey floor surfaces for commercial offices, healthcare facilities, and retail environments.

Wall Cladding

Polished or honed Jubilee Grey panels are effective for reception walls, lift interiors, and large commercial cladding applications where grey tone consistency is critical.

Exterior Facades

The stone's density and moderate porosity make it suitable for sheltered exterior cladding and entrance step applications.

Staircase Treads

The stone's hardness and neutral grey tone make it a practical and refined choice for staircase tread and riser applications in commercial and residential settings.

Care & Maintenance

Jubilee Grey Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 18 months for kitchen and bathroom applications. The mid-grey surface manages visible staining better than white granites. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner; the polished surface can show water marks — dry promptly. Avoid abrasive or acidic cleaners.
