South Indian Granite

Kashmir Gold Granite.

Kashmir Gold Granite is one of the richest, most complex gold granites in the South Indian range — a deeply warm amber and gold stone with an active pattern of dark mineral clusters and lighter quartz bodies that creates a surface of considerable depth and character.

About Gold

Kashmir Gold Granite is quarried from South India's established gold-family granite zone, where the specific iron-enriched Precambrian intrusives produce the rich, warm gold colouring and complex mineral patterning. Despite the name, the stone is sourced from South India processing centres rather than the Kashmir region and has been in export production for several decades. It is well established in North American, European, and Middle Eastern luxury interior markets. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.66 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.20%
Compressive Strength ~178 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Kashmir Gold is a medium-to-coarse grained granite dominated by iron-bearing gold-amber potassium feldspar, quartz, plagioclase, hornblende, and biotite. The rich gold colouring reflects a higher iron content in the feldspar than in lighter gold varieties. Hornblende and biotite clusters of various sizes provide the dark mineral bodies distributed through the gold matrix, while lighter quartz and plagioclase aggregates provide additional tonal contrast. Moderate porosity warrants sealing for all wet-contact applications.

Color & Character

Kashmir Gold Granite presents a rich amber-gold matrix with a complex, active pattern of dark near-black mineral clusters and lighter cream-white zones distributed across the slab surface. The composition is three-tonal and energetic — the warm gold ground creating a rich base for the dark and light mineral bodies. Polished surfaces develop an intense, jewel-like warmth in the amber feldspar under both natural and artificial light. The pattern is non-directional and varies significantly between slabs, making each piece visually distinctive.

Care & Maintenance

Kashmir Gold Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 12 months in kitchen and bathroom use. The warm gold matrix is susceptible to oil staining if left unsealed; prompt spill cleanup is essential. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner and avoid acidic products. Polished Kashmir Gold retains its rich amber depth under normal conditions.
