About Blue

Sapphire Blue Granite is quarried in Andhra Pradesh's established dark granite zone, within the Eastern Ghats geological belt, where specific mafic-plagioclase intrusives produce the characteristic deep blue-grey matrix. The stone is selected for its blue saturation and depth of colour before processing to gangsaw slabs and calibrated tiles. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.72 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.20%
Compressive Strength ~192 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Sapphire Blue is a coarse-to-medium grained mafic granitoid dominated by blue-grey to blue-violet labradorite plagioclase feldspar with hornblende, pyroxene, and ilmenite as dark-mineral phases. The deep blue colour of the feldspar results from the specific composition of the labradorite (bytownite-labradorite range) and the presence of trace titanium-bearing minerals within the feldspar crystal structure. A subtle iridescent shimmer from the feldspar cleavage planes adds optical depth to the dark blue matrix. Low porosity gives the stone good stain resistance.

Color & Character

Sapphire Blue Granite presents a deep blue-grey to blue-violet matrix with a coarse crystalline texture visible at close range and a subtle iridescent shimmer from the labradorite feldspar cleavage planes. The blue saturation is higher than standard blue-grey granites — the stone's colour appearing as a genuine deep blue rather than a grey-blue in good natural light. On polished surfaces, the blue matrix achieves a deep reflectivity and the iridescent shimmer becomes more pronounced. The stone's rare, saturated blue character makes it a sought-after luxury specification.

Care & Maintenance

Sapphire Blue Granite has low porosity and good inherent stain resistance. Apply an impregnating sealer at installation for kitchen and bathroom use, refreshed every 18 to 24 months. The dark blue polished surface shows water marks easily — dry promptly after cleaning. Use pH-neutral stone cleaner and avoid abrasive products. The polished finish and blue colour retain their character under normal conditions.
