Steel Grey Granite is quarried in Karnataka's Dharwar Craton, where medium-mafic Precambrian intrusives produce the characteristic consistent dark-medium grey of the stone. Geological Profile
Steel Grey is a medium-grained granite with a well-balanced mineralogy of grey plagioclase feldspar, hornblende, quartz, potassium feldspar, and biotite. The even distribution of dark hornblende and lighter feldspar-quartz phases produces the characteristically uniform mid-dark grey colour. The 'steel' character derives from the clean, slightly metallic quality of the polished grey surface — a consequence of the fine-grained interlocking texture and moderate mica content. Moderate porosity is standard for this granite type and sealing is recommended for wet applications.

Care & Maintenance
Steel Grey Granite should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation and re-sealed every 18 months in kitchen and bathroom applications. The dark grey surface manages staining well compared to lighter stones. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner; dry promptly on polished surfaces to prevent water marks.
