Surf Green Granite slab

About Green

Surf Green Granite is quarried in Andhra Pradesh's granite zone, where chlorite and epidote-bearing Precambrian intrusives produce the characteristic blue-green to teal colouring. The stone is processed to gangsaw slabs and calibrated tiles at Andhra Pradesh units and has been in export production for over a decade. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Geological Profile

Density ~2.74 g/cm³
Water Absorption <0.18%
Compressive Strength ~196 MPa
Mohs Hardness 6 – 7

Surf Green is classified as a green granite or chlorite-epidote granitoid. The blue-green to teal colouring results from the presence of chlorite, epidote, and chloritised hornblende as major mineral phases within a plagioclase-quartz matrix. The slightly bluer tone compared to Hassan Green reflects differences in the epidote-to-chlorite ratio of the specific intrusive. Accessory magnetite and ilmenite contribute dark inclusions. Low porosity and good compressive strength reflect the dense crystalline texture of the host rock.

Color & Character

Surf Green Granite presents a blue-green to teal matrix with a fine granular texture and scattered dark mineral inclusions. The colour is vivid and saturated — closer to a teal-turquoise than a forest green — giving the stone an unusual visual freshness compared to darker or more olive-toned green granites. On polished surfaces, the green-blue matrix achieves a clear, vibrant reflectivity that amplifies the colour intensity. The relatively uniform surface texture makes the stone effective in large-format applications where colour consistency is important.

Care & Maintenance

Surf Green Granite has low porosity and good stain resistance. Apply an impregnating sealer at installation for kitchen and bathroom use, refreshing every 18 months. Avoid acid-based and bleach-based cleaners that may react with the chlorite and epidote phases. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaner and dry promptly. The polished finish retains the stone's vivid teal character under normal conditions.
